When I visited Europe in ‘97, I packed a tie that I had no need for, for the 3 months I was there, except 1 day. I wore the tie to Notre Dame, pushing past blocked throngs of t-shirted tourists, where staff let me pass in to attend Easter services. Obviously, it was amazing.
