The Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the World-Wide Web First Edition - Work in Progress

Welcome, hitch-hiker!

You have reached the online home of The Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the World-Wide Web, an online guide for the vast realms of hypertext that lie before you.

A word from the editor

Fellow web-surfers!

Let me welcome you to the Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the World-Wide Web, an attempt at making a guide to interesting things to see (and do!) on the Internet.

This project does not aim to be as accurate as an encyclopædia or as useful as an online directory, because it strives to become neither. Instead, it mostly aims to be a fun thing that is pleasant to read. As you might have noticed, the name I chose is a reference to a very remarkable book. This reflects the very nature of the project that I have in mind: a humoristic and sometimes satirical website that tells you things in exactly the same funny way that ordinary encyclopædias do not.

This project has actually grown out of a Mastodon bot, called Link of the Day, so the guide's content will be largely based on the content that I have amassed for the bot.

At this point, let me highlight that neither the LOTD bot nor this Guide make me any money. I don't accept links for advertisement purposes and do not plan to. This also means that I can only add content when I have free time, energy and the mood to do so, so updates will be highly irregular.

If you check out this first edition of the Guide, please let me know of what you think. You can send your feedback to blu256 at proton dot me.

Also, if you want to contribute, please get in touch with me.

So, what are you waiting for? Go check out what I have so far.

Yours, The Editor
