Hello friends! There's something called the peter principle, where you're promoted until you're bad at your job. I've been talking with a handful of tilde.club folks and I'm wondering how we might prevent what one person called "The peter principle of communities". They get big, they get less fun, full stop. Here's a proposal. I like the idea that we cap this server at a fixed number of users. BUT Then we just kick off another server with the same number of users. // It's a bit like World of Warcraft - there are a bunch of people per server but it's not the whole world because that would get cluttered. And this is better than WoW, bceause you'd see the same people online every day. It'd be more like neighbors sharing a street together, which can foster real communities. So that's my proposal. If this were a CMS we could have comments, or upvotes, or whatever. But if you think this sounds good, or have other ideas, email me at jon@lot23.com (or mail jonbell at the command line) and let's talk about this! The magic here is reproducible. But that magic can, and will, be overwhelmed if we accept too many people. So let's try to design for that :)
