Hiya internet, long time, no see!

October 7, 2022

Let me try to recap the year: Still working the same job. I broke up, had a couple other flings (I wish I could say it like that with a straight face but honestly it still feels unnatural for me to say goodbye to anyone). I started dating one of the cooks after he quit. He's beautiful and brilliant and I love him. He moved to Chicago but I'm going to try to visit him as much as I can. I like my car as much as I could like any car, and it feels the same about me. Did I mention I crawled back to Tumblr, like a slimy little worm? It hasn't felt as noxious before, because I think I don't rely on it for the same things. I'm closer with my friends and I see them regularly. I've taken up Magic the Gathering in earnest, but I think I'll only maintain that hobby for as long as I have cool people to play with.

My body is threatening to betray me more frequently. Random dull aches or changes in my geology remind me I need to chase the illusion of control that exercise affords sooner rather than later. Today in a Little Free Library I found two DVDs in markered-out Blockbuster Video cases -- Existenz and Trekkies. I think I'll watch them tomorrow. I'm currently reading Hiroshima, John Hershey's record of survivor accounts of the first nuclear bombing, and slowly going through Operating Systems: Three Easy Pieces.I'm hoping to begin reading the Epic of Gilgamesh with my friends soon. The Disorder feels more receded currently (thus my return to devout posting), but we'll see how long it lasts.

Thanks. Keep an eye and a salute at ready for any spiders you see, this is really their season.
