We must be weird; we must create things; we must take care that they be not useful or sensical or monetizable; we must shatter the meaning of the machine, for the machine can only make meaning from things it understands.
-- from ~acdw's manifesto Reading Jia Tolentino's book reminded me of the static aspect of the initial web experiences I had. The status box, the doll collection, the grungy Paint Shop Pro images. The little box layouts, the background patterns. Verdana, Tahoma. Tiny text. There was a canon, a mold that was followed. I don't want to be a part of any of these elements of web 1.0 again. In this Great Return (I'm going all in) I want there to be originality, experimentation, and ideally more content than form. Although original and experimental form can be content in itself, to my mind. So there's the manifesto.
