Phew, well, this has been a minor herculean effort!
Since finding out about tildes yesterday, and getting accepted to tilde.club last night, this has been a real test of all my unix knowledge. I've never used Unix itself before, and so far, I've yet to discover the differences. I've not looked into installing packages or anything (seems unlikely I'll need anything on here that isn't installed), so I doubt I'll encounter too many differences from Linux.
update: oh, well i found out why it feels like linux. it is linux! This box is running on fedora
It's a slightly hazy week this week after a slightly mad weekend, with another one looming... I've definitely spent much more time coding of late than I'd expect to. One of my flatmates is about to go away for a surprisingly long time and we're talking about summer plans, I'm messaging folks to see if I'll be able to travel, and as usual, I have an invoice I should be writing up for a gig last week hahahaa
The gig was nice- another opportunity from Headset, who are releasing one of my tracks on their upcoming compilation this year! It'll be my first release, so I'm quite excited (it'll be weird and wonderful to hear the track after mastering). Freakish, Satisfied was such a random little track, too- a flip of a sample that dj koze used on XTC, which i just wanted to hear with some voluminous bass and racing drum-breaks. As usual, the track took a bit of a life of its own as I started to see a particular character emerging as I worked the samples and wrote/constructed parts for it. I really need to sit down and work on some of the more complex, explicit, and meaningful song ideas i have! It's just so much easier to jam stuff out on ableton, and there's no better way to see success in something than to do it a lot.
I've tried blogging before and it's never been something I've been that good at maintaining, but we'll see. I'd like to have something a bit more lasting, something that all sorts of folks can keep up with and see what's going on in my odd little head, so we'll have to hope I can keep it in mind. The tilde community seems like a really cool motivator, and the whole structure is very nerd-snipy. Hopefully it becomes a staple:)
