Word equations
- Word and symbol equations have the form \(reactants \rightarrow products\)
- An example would be magnesium and oxygen:
- \(magnesium + oxygen \rightarrow magnesium\ oxide\)
- Word equations can also be constructed from descriptions
- An example would be:
- Copper oxide was added to hot sulfuric acid and it reacted to give a blue solution of copper sulfate and water
- \(copper\ oxide + sulfuric\ acid \rightarrow copper\ sulfate + water\)
