Surface area

• Straight sides:
• Find out the area of each side, and add them together
• Example:
• If a side is 2m by 7m, the area is 14m
• If there are two of the sides, you multiply it by 2, giving 28m
• You repeat this until all sides have been calculated
• Afterwards, add them all together
• Cylinder:
• Use the formula $$2 \pi r(h+r)$$, where $$r$$ is the radius of the circle on top, and $$h$$ is the height of the cylinder
• Cone:
• Use the formula $$\pi r(l+r)$$, where $$r$$ is the radius of the circle at the bottom, and $$l$$ is the slant of the cone
• Sphere
• Use the formula $$4 \pi r^2$$, where $$r$$ is the radius of the circle
• For hemispheres, divide the sphere by half
