# Surface area

- Straight sides:
- Find out the area of each side, and add them together
- Example:
- If a side is 2m by 7m, the area is 14m
- If there are two of the sides, you multiply it by 2, giving 28m

- You repeat this until all sides have been calculated
- Afterwards, add them all together

- If a side is 2m by 7m, the area is 14m

- Example:

- Find out the area of each side, and add them together
- Cylinder:
- Use the formula \(2 \pi r(h+r)\), where \(r\) is the radius of the circle on top, and \(h\) is the height of the cylinder

- Cone:
- Use the formula \(\pi r(l+r)\), where \(r\) is the radius of the circle at the bottom, and \(l\) is the slant of the cone

- Sphere
- Use the formula \(4 \pi r^2\), where \(r\) is the radius of the circle
- For hemispheres, divide the sphere by half

- Use the formula \(4 \pi r^2\), where \(r\) is the radius of the circle
