Due to my concerns about security and privacy on Telegram (proprietary server and centralised) and Matrix (centralising by decentralising), I plan to deprecate them for private conversations.
From 1 January 2026, I will no longer use Telegram for direct conversations with friends and acquaintances. I will, however, continue to use it for public conversations (e.g. communities). From 1 July 2026, the same policy will apply to Matrix.
For better security and privacy, I suggest migrating our conversations to XMPP, Delta Chat, or SimpleX as soon as possible. A complete registration guide for XMPP is available here.
