While you were battling the evil forces of D'Sparil,
the other Serpent Riders were busy sowing the seeds of destruction in other dimensions.
One such dimension is the decaying world where Hexen takes place.
A world littered with the mangled corpses of nonbelievers and inhabited by the undead followers that executed them.
Only three humans - a warrior, a mage and a cleric have escaped the leaders' vicious spell.
Now these brave souls have sworn to crush the evil regime that threatens to destroy the world forever.
Separated upon entering the mystical portal, the three are forced to attempt on their own what they had hoped to do together:
find Korax's stronghold, destroy him and restore order in the physical world.

Hubs

Seven Portals

Seven Portals serves as the initial hub of Hexen, a massive stone fortress that tests your resolve through intricate mechanical puzzles. To breach the stronghold, you must venture through the surrounding elemental and architectural portals to trigger the switches that unlock the central sanctuary. Guarded heavily by Ettins and Centaurs, this hub demands careful exploration and the strategic use of your starting arsenal to overcome its shifting walls and hidden traps, eventually leading you to the guardian of the portal and your journey's next chapter.

Shadow Wood

Shadow Wood is the central nexus of the second hub, a blighted wilderness where dense forests and murky swamps hide the path forward. To progress, you must navigate the surrounding sub-levels to recover four hidden keys and activate the six switches required to unlock the Hypostyle. Steel yourself for constant ambushes from Centaurs and Afrits as you scour this ancient, poisoned woodland for the components of your third weapon and the ultimate confrontation with the Death Wyvern.

Heresiarch's Seminary

Heresiarch's Seminary is the grand, scholarly heart of the third hub, where dark magic and gothic architecture collide. To proceed, you must navigate a series of interconnected chapels and study halls, solving complex environmental puzzles and collecting the icons required to lower the central defenses. This hub culminates in a high-stakes showdown against the Heresiarch himself—a master of mystical barriers—requiring you to master your character's ultimate weapon and navigate the treacherous, trap-filled corridors of this unholy academy.

Castle of Grief

Castle of Grief is the desolate fourth hub, a sprawling military fortress and prison defined by its cold grey stone and mechanical brutality. To escape its walls, you must navigate the castle's ramparts, dungeons, and surrounding grottoes to locate the gears and switches necessary to activate its massive Clockwork Tower. Watch for lethal environmental hazards and a heavy concentration of Chaos Serpents and Stalkers as you fight through this joyless stronghold to face the dark forces guarding the way to the final realm.

Necropolis

Necropolis is the haunting final hub, an ancient city of the dead where the veil between worlds is thinnest. To reach the ultimate confrontation with Korax, you must navigate vast burial grounds and silent mausoleums to claim the artifacts of the three heroes. This grim realm challenges you to overcome the most powerful servants of the Serpent Riders, requiring total mastery of your ultimate weapons and relics to survive the sprawling graveyards and unlock the gateway to the Dark Oasis.
