ZNC is a proxy for IRC.
With ZNC your nick is always online even if you disconnect. Then it displays new messages when you are connected again.

To use a ZNC you need a Linux shell account with it installed or a ZNC provider. Some are paid (typically cheap and recommended), others are free.

How to interact with the channel

Take initiative for chat and expect long to be replied.

Also if you don't have much to speak yourself then don't be hypocritical and don't expect everybody must have for your sake.
