haha Nope, not much going on here in Newcastle. It's not a bad place to live, nice and peaceful, just not bus-friendly. Yeah the Deerhunter show should be good (I feel like I saw them once, but I can't remember for sure..). If you haven't already gotten a ticket, I would recommend waiting in case I win some haha I've been winning a bunch of contests lately (I just got back from seeing Dungen at Neumos, which I won a contest for).
So you were at Bumbershoot on the Saturday? I ended up wandering around on Monday (I was too poor to pay for any of the days but won free tickets for one day) seeing some of the short films and theatre performances along with pieces of several music acts (The Clientele, Anvil, Jenny & Johnny, Laura Veirs). I would've liked to see Atlas Sound and HEALTH though.
Let's seee.. over the past few months I've just been rotating through a bunch of different stuff: Silent Land Time Machine, Animal Hospital, old Legendary Pink Dots stuff, Heavy Hawaii, Balam Acab, Marnie Stern, Oneohtrix Point Never, James Blackshaw, Land of Talk, Hauschka, El Guincho, Blonde Redhead, music from Scott Pilgrim vs the World (did you see it? haha), Twin Shadow, Twin Sister, Crystal Castles, Sufjan Stevens, just switching through a ton of random stuff depending upon my mood haha. I also went through an angst phase of only listening to a ton of old Modest Mouse, At The Drive-In, and Coheed & Cambria but now I only listen to them occasionally hahaha
You're pretty into movies though right? Cuz these days I'm a hardcore screener.. I go to free screenings all the time. So let me know if there are any upcoming movies you're excited about and I'll let you know if there are going to be any screenings. Most recently I caught The Town, Buried, and Catfish.
