Well, since their guitarist has the same name as me, minus a singular ‘n’, and he is also of a Austrian/Polish-Jewish descent, which is eerily similar to me being of German-Polish potentially Jewish (though it seems rather likely) I suppose I have to be into them. Plus also, cover. I dunno.
The googley ai thinks I should try three songs, from three different era’s of the band discography to see where I best fall. Those three are:
So, I guess we’ll see. I guess I’ll try it now.
It’s twitchy, not super fast, not super melodic. Started to remind me of older Between the Buried and Me. I didn’t hate it. I don’t know if it would stick in my head or stick around for long.
Well, the vocals are definitely different. It has more groove than a mechanical sound. Is that brass in the background? I’m not sure I actually like the vocals better. I dunno. Drums are good. Yeah, I get it with the random weird 3 seconds of piano or whatever, we get it. Again, kind of remind of Ants of the Sky. There’s also just something about this hook that feels familiar. It’s not good, it’s not bad, it’s familiar. But there is something else, something else familiar, in the vocals, like coheed and cambria, but less annoying. Those guys would have been find if it hadn’t been for the falsetto screeching. Oh, and I see that triangle. Djent. But less crunchy and more groove. Hmmm, there’s something in there that feels edgy in the paste and kind of stale to me today. I dunno. I just keep seeing a fro and something that just feels 2008-2009. I guess it is screaming from it’s time in the past.
Well, this took a totally different turn. Way less groove and more grind. Frantic scales with monks chanting/intoning. Well, the vocals are a bit less annoying. Still reminds me of old BTBAM. That’s interesting. But shorter. No triangles this time. The drums are good.
