Politics is a poor substitute for genuinely addressing/fixing the mental illness also known as ego. No economic, social or political system is its match. It matters not whether the economic system is capitalism or socialism, whether the political system is democratic or communist, etc., so long as I have to carry around a pocketful of keys - never mind a weapon - because my ego can't trust the egos surrounding it.
In fact, faith in politics is essentially faith that aligning enough sick things - i.e. egos - could result in something healthy.
Politics is steroids for ego. Just watch any ego pontificating while high on it. Note the delirium, ultimately the screaming for, in so many words, being the only one that "gets it" in a sea of idiots.
Politics looks outwardly. But you need to find a solution to your within.
