What's all this, then?

There’s an old saying about how the best way to cut down a tree is spend most of your time sharpening your Axe. For many reasons I have taken this to heart, even before first hearing such a phrase.

am i still to create the perfect system?

This is how I spend most of my time, tweaking this and that, looking for better ways to do things, trying new plugins, nicking scripts from git repos, reading about such topics…
It’s fun, really. Or at least it can be for the most part. Some things are very frustrating to configure properly, and some things just plain don’t work.
Over the years, I’ve tried many things and have, for the most part, discovered what works for me and what doesn’t.

My own dotfiles repo contains the fruits of such efforts. All the stuff there works for me, and has been doing so for several years now. Take stuff as you please, but I make no promises and give no guarantees. Learn about what you’re taking, and if you don’t fully understand what something does or is for then hold off on using it until you do.
And always, always keep backups.
