This is part two of Beliefs - Changing Beliefs

Almost every person the future can be better than the present and you can do that.

If you don't change your beliefs, your life will be like this forever. Is that good news?

Four Core Beliefs

  1. Grand Beliefs
  2. Nature of others
  3. About Ourselves
  4. Cultural Beliefs

Which are still useful, which no longer serve us.

Changing Core Beliefs

  • Series of Repetitive Thoughts
  • Form a pattern over time

Unhelpful Beliefs
Low self worth - I'm not good enough - I don't deserve
Pressure to conform - I must be perfect - It's important that others like me
Fear - It's too difficult - I can't
Look at the belief wheel = Cause -> Effect -> Meaning
Cause - Who or what we hold responsible for our mental actions - X causes Y - Take no responsibility - YOU make me feel hurt
Effect - What happens - I feel Upset - Feeling Produced by Thought - Thoughts call Emotions
Meaning - Intention we give the event - I didn't get it because I'm not good enough
I've already changed beliefs in the past

State / Write Down what you want to change - state it in the present (ie NOW)

Maybe add YET to phrases. I can't do this yet

Limits are temporary

Change Should to Could

The amazing BUT FLIP - But is what holds us back. Replace But to And. And then flip it around:
It's a beautiful day today, but it's going to rain tommorow. -> It's going to rain tommorow and it's a great day today.
