Rotating Centres

This page is being provided for those who have their own method of solving the cube that does not always solve it with correctly oriented centres and do not want to spend time learning a method that sets the centre orientations correctly in the solution.

One hundred and eighty degree rotation (Algorithm set 1)

This algorithm rotates the up face centre 180 degrees

NOTE: This algorithm is made up of a series of 7 rotations performed twice, so it is only half as bad as it looks.

NOTE: This algorithm is made up of a series of 4 rotations performed five times, so it is not nearly as bad as it looks.

Ninety degree rotations (Algorithm set 1)

This algorithm rotates the up face centre clockwise 90 degrees, and the front face centre anti-clockwise 90 degrees.

NOTE: If the up face centre needs to be rotated anti-clockwise and the front face centre clockwise, you can rotate the whole cube so that the front face centre is at the top and the up face centre is in front and use the above algorithm.

or     up anti-clockwise, front clockwise

This algorithm also works if the last rotation is transferred to the first rotation.

or     up clockwise, front anti-clockwise
or     up anti-clockwise, front clockwise

Ninety degree rotations (Algorithm set 2)

This algorithm rotates the up face centre clockwise 90 degrees, and the left face centre anti-clockwise, 90 degrees

NOTE: If the up face centre needs to be rotated anti-clockwise and the left face centre clockwise, you can rotate the whole cube so that up face centre is on the left and the left face centre it on top and use the above algorithm.

or     up anti-clockwise, left clockwise

This algorithm also works if the last rotation is transferred to the first rotation.

or     up clockwise, left anti-clockwise
or     up anti-clockwise, left clockwise

Same thing for speed cubers/finger trick rotators.

Ninety degree rotations (Algorithm set 3)

This algorithm rotates the up face centre clockwise 90 degrees, and the front face centre anti-clockwise, 90 degrees
